Custom Sizes - Beautiful Satin Prints for Home or Office
Fresh off the studio work table - two custom pieces - beautiful Winter Sunrise on Lake Moultrie. The piece above is 56” wide and 38” tall and it makes a grand statement! Trotter Arts is happy to work on custom sized pieces for a particular spot in your home or office. We absolutely love working with our customers to achieve their decorating vision!
All Trotter Arts prints are photographs printed on satin fabric. The printing process is dye-sublimation and it yields beautiful color fast results. The color is embedded into the fabric so the image will not fade or crack. After experimenting with fabrics, satin was chosen because it finishes with a light sheen, crisp and bright color with low glare. It is very similar to art printed on metal with a softer finish. Satin sounds like a delicate material yet we have found it to be worry free and beautiful! We’ve been printing on satin for 7 years now! Wow, time has flown by - doing what we enjoy!
This custom piece measures 50” wide by 27” tall and it also is a sunrise photograph over Lake Moultrie. We loved the “winter blues” in this piece. It is always amazing how just a few minutes at sunrise makes a drastic difference in colors. Photographer’s at sunrise know that the lighting changes fast and you have to be quick to catch that great shot!
When you are redecorating in your home or office, remember Trotter Arts can help you with custom sizes!
Hope you will visit our gallery for inspiration and our store to place an online order or better yet, call us to discuss a custom piece at (864) 981-0139.

New Triptych Releases - Marsh Sunset at Hunting Island State Park and Tomotley Plantation Avenue of Oaks
One of our favorite field trips is Hunting Island State Park. There are many reasons that its a favorite such as, the only functional lighthouse in South Carolina, access to St. Phillips Island and sunrise beach photography just to name a few. But, a visit to the marsh boardwalk is always worthwhile. We revisited the boardwalk last Fall, with the idea of capturing a sunset for a triptych print.
Not far from Hunting Island is the Tomotley Plantation. The plantation dates back to the late 1600’s. It is believed that the Live Oaks were planted in 1820 by Patience Wise Blackett Izard who inherited the plantation from her father Ralph Izard. We are certainly glad that she had the patience and wisdom to plant and create this beautiful avenue of oaks!
The first printing of these new pieces is completed. Sunset at the Boardwalk and the Tomotley Plantation Triptychs are now available in the store! Standard sizes for our triptychs are: Large 37”x 60” , Medium 32” x 48”, Small 25” x 42”. We print our photographs on satin fabric using a dye-sublimation process. The process yields beautiful, permanent colors that are embedded in the satin. These images will not fade or crack and the finish is a light sheen. Our prints are gallery wrapped and ready to hang in home or office.
The studio has been busy stretching's new pieces in hopeful anticipation for some Spring Art Shows! We have a good inventory right now, so don’t hesitate to call us or view our online store. We would love to work with you on your project!

Great Blue Heron - Stick Dance - Teamwork
Wildlife photography is a challenge, so many variables and in every trip there is a lesson learned. This year our goal is to get the best photograph we can of the Great Blue Heron “Stick Dance”. I’m sure that many people have never seen the GBH mating ritual. When the male brings the stick to the nest, the stick is passed off and in the perfect photograph the pair’s necks and beaks form a heart. Then the stick is placed in the nest as the pair continue to build the nest. Teamwork and commitment are required in nature and in life!
In 2021, we have been on three field trips and we are getting closer to the GBH heart photograph, but its not easy! Scouting and patience are definitely required! Recently, after sundown and over two hours with the tripod and camera set in a perfect position we decided to give it up for the day. Literally one minute after breaking down and walking away, guess who came to the nest? Hustling back into position, in near darkness, we were lucky to get this shot and we are encouraged to keep trying to get that perfect heart.
Are you looking for some wildlife art for your home or office? Look in our Store or Gallery under the Birds category for some of our Wildlife shots. They look great printed on Satin fabric - no glass and no glare! The Rosetta Spoonbills are our favorites but maybe there is a new favorite coming. Hopefully our best Great Blue Heron Stick Dance will be released soon!
Spectacular Live Oak Photograph - ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge - New Release
New Release: Grove Plantation House, offices for the US Fish and Wildlife Services Earnest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge. Dye-sublimation printed on Satin Fabric 32”x50”.
There is a treasure in South Carolina known as the Grove Plantation which was originally a land grant to Robert Fenwick in 1694. The Grove House was built in 1828 by George Washington Morris. It is built in the late-Federal-period plantation style of architecture and has the unusual feature of polygonal rooms and projecting symmetrical polygonal bays. The plantation has an interesting history of owners including abandonment following the Civil War. It is note worthy that this rice plantation house is one of only three antebellum mansions in the ACE Basin that survived the Civil War.
But wait, there is more! The magnificent Live Oak trees that align the entrance from the Edisto River drew our immediate attention as photographers. The Spanish Moss and the Resurrection Fern was spectacular during our field trip. We knew that printing on satin fabric would only enhance the beauty we experienced.
So why do we print on satin fabric? Dye-sublimation printing yields beautiful and permanent colors that are impregnated in the satin rather than printed on the surface. When trying to describe the results, visually it is crisper than a photograph/ giclée printed on canvas and softer than a photograph printed on metal.
The 32” x 50” portrait orientation is a proper size for our foyer and we enjoyed pairing it with the Cypress Trees. Are you thinking about redecorating in your home or office? We would love to help you! We hope that you will visit our store or give us a call soon!
