Happy New Year - Trotter Arts Favorites from 2022

It is the start to a new year and we hope 2023 will be a healthy and prosperous new year for all of our Trotter Arts friends! As in years past, we are announcing our annual favorites photographs, printed on satin fabric and the story behind why it is a favorite. We always appreciate feedback from our customers and this year, suggestions from our Art Show customers directly impacted our 2022 Favorites!

Announcing our favorite Triptych from 2022:

Road to Wormsloe was our #1 selling triptych for 2022. The location is Savannah, Georgia and it is the longest avenue of live oak trees in the Southeast, measuring a mile and a quarter long! The shot captures the lovely Spanish Moss and the Resurrection Fern and the depth of the canopy.

Our Art Show patrons asked for a larger version of this triptych in 2022 and we created an Extra Large version measuring 37” tall and 60” wide. Interesting enough we sold out of every Extra Large triptych that we printed in 2022! We recently began printing for 2023 shows and we currently have the XL in our online store.

Announcing our favorite Wildlife Print from 2022:

Preening is a Great White Heron (also referred to as White Egret) taken at the Swamp Gardens on the property of Magnolia Gardens. The rookery attracts many wading birds in the early spring and of course, looking good to attract a mate. Patience pays off when you photograph wildlife and this 24”x 24” turned heads as our best-selling wildlife print in 2022.

Announcing our favorite Landscape Print from 2022:

Hunting Island State Park offers so much that sometimes this boardwalk is overlooked. As you drive towards Fripp Island this boardwalk over the marsh is on the right just before crossing the bridge to Fripp Island. This is a most peaceful sunset at high tide.

Thankfully, our Art Show patrons kept asking for this landscape in larger sizes. After some trials, we now offer this in two larger sizes, 32” tall x 50” wide and 37” tall and 60” wide.

Now is a great time to visit Trotter Arts Store on-line. Our inventories are being refreshed as we gear up for the Spring Art Show season. Need art? Check us out - try link below!

New Releases - Triptychs from Big Talbot State Park

Black Rock Beach is an interesting and unusual beach on the Florida Coast near Jacksonville. It is located in Big Talbot Island State Park. The unique organic soil formations are said to have been formed at the end of the last ice age. The black rock mimics volcanic rock in its color and eroded contours. Certainly, different than the most Atlantic coast beaches in the South! On our third try, God provided a colorful sunrise. I’m always amazed how fast the light and the colors change at sunrise!

We just sent these three triptychs to our printer and can’t wait to get them stretched! So, while we patiently wait….. Tell us which one is your favorite?

Flowertown - Counting the Days!

We are counting the days until the 2022 Flowertown Festival in Summerville SC on April 1,2,3. Flowertown was our very first outdoor festival back in 2015 and continues to be one of our favorites. We always try to bring new pieces to Flowertown as we kickoff our Spring Show Season! This year we have several new limited-edition pieces that are limited-edition #1’s coming to Summerville! Here are a few of them:

New Release - 2021 Favorites - Sale Ends Sunday 1/9/22

New Release - Ravenel Bridge - Portrait Orientation

Our customers have asked for a portrait orientation of the Ravenel Bridge. This Fall we were able to shoot the bridge with a portrait orientation. Sometimes you just need a taller piece of art to beautify an area. The Ravenel Bridge is always beautiful but the transition of light at sunset is pretty special. The portrait orientation and the up-lighting, accentuates the height of the structure. Printed on satin fabric, it makes a statement! Perfect for home or office.

Currently available in 26” x 40” on TrotterArts Store and we will be printing in 32” x 50” soon. Let us know what you think of this new piece!

2021 Favorites - Our Top Five

We are excited for planned shows and field trips for 2022 but before we move on, we decided to highlight our top 5 new shots from 2021. We tried to include customer interest as well as our own interest. This turned out to be a little more difficult than we thought!

Here we go with #1. Magonila Path was entered in the 2021 South Carolina State Fair Art Show and was a ribbon winner! A little-known fact is the annual State Fair Art Show is the largest Art Show in the state! There was quite the interest in this piece. It is now available in a 24” x 24” gallery wrapped piece thru the Trotter Arts store. Special price this weekend only!

In at #2 - Sunrise at Botnay Bay is always special and we were experimenting with longer exposures. Our learning curve for long exposures was pretty steep and because of our learning it was one our favorites taken in 2021. It is available as a 24” x 24” with a special price this weekend only!

#3 - We named this one Cypress Sunrise. It was taken on Lake Moultrie. We love taking field trips to this spot during sunrise. The colors don’t last long and its almost a sensory overload. The long exposure gives the lake’s reflection a nice smoothing effect.

Grove Plantation #4 - The essence of Southern Plantation Charm is captured in the live oak trees complete with Spanish moss and resurrection ferns. The focus of this shot are the magnificent Live Oak trees surrounding the plantation house.

Our 2021 favorite new triptych comes in at #5. This dramatic long exposure sunrise at Myrtle Beach State Park is a beauty printed on satin fabric and it is available in the large size 37” x 60” in the Trotter Arts Store.

Now is a great time to purchase some of our favorites and large triptychs on sale through this weekend. Pricing for 2022 will be slightly higher as the cost for satin, printing and shipping is rising. As always, our goal is to offer beautiful and reasonably priced art. Our Satin prints are generally priced well below similar sized canvas prints. Click the button below to shop now. Thanks for your interest is our art! Lynne and Howard

Oh Happy Days - Supply Chain Resolution - 3 Hard Lessons

Trotter Arts is happy to report that we have received satin and printed for the first time since September when the supply chain shortage hit us!!!! Hip, hip, hurray!!!!! Finally, a supply of Satin! To celebrate we are extending the Black Friday pricing on our Web Site Store until January 8th. We will also be adding new inventory to the web site as we get it stretched.

Three hard lessons learned for small businesses,

1) Contingency Plans are really necessary. We were at risk because we didn’t have a backup supplier.

2) Supplier Development is also necessary. Developing that backup supplier takes time and validation testing is required to assure product quality. A good supplier is vital and effective communications will help to anticipate issues.

3) During unstable times inventory can be your friend. Fortunately, we printed ahead for our Fall Shows and we had some safety stock that allowed us to fill most orders during the Fall. Sometimes, being lucky helps. We didn’t anticipate the supply chain issue, but we scheduled shows back-to-back-to-back and knew we needed to print ahead, so we invested in the inventory before the supply chain issue.

Included are a couple of pictures from our studio of the freshly printed satin. It feels so good to be able to print and create product for our customers again! We learned a few lessons from this hardship and will be better for it! Thanks for your patience during this time! Please let us know if we can help with your home or office art needs!
